January Blues

Oh what a month. Honestly, didn’t this month feel like the longest ever?! I cannot wait to go back to the salon and do what I love. When we do eventually get to go back, you will wonder if I ever leave at the end of the day, haha! I feel like we are slowly getting closer to better days now that we have got to February. I cannot wait for lighter evenings, sunnier days and just actually going to work!

There have been days where I had to pull myself together and think myself lucky not having to home-school twenty-two children. (Hats off to the lady from the programme “22 kids and counting”.)

I am getting by, having a quiet cry, swearing into a pillow, a quick swig of gin and carrying on.

I have also started another DIY project, (my poor husband). As you all know, I am a DIY pro now. I decided that my walk-in-wardrobe needed a revamp. However, I completely underestimated the task at hand. I do not know what I was thinking, doing home-schooling, trying to exercise and keep up with the housework.

And then there was our lovely snow day! That sure changed everyone’s mood. Even I cracked a smile and

built a snowman!

Our lifestyle habits change from season to season, but Winter can really cause some havoc with my skin. Extra layers of clothing, rapid temperature changes, changes in diet. These are just a few things that can affect the feel and condition of my skin and I am sure you can relate.

During the Winter, the skin tends to lose moisture, due to the lack of humidity in the air. This can make the skin feel dry, itchy, flaky, and tight. Not very pleasant. Now that I have a little more time, I thought I would put my money where my mouth is, and make sure that I was cleansing and toning twice a day, because if I am being totally honest. I did not always have time to do it when things were “normal”. I can honestly say that I have noticed a big difference and seeing that difference is what will encourage me to carry on.

I have always used a moisuriser and serum, but during the Winter months, I swap my lighter “Summer” moisturiser for a richer one. Another product I have been using more is a mask, I have felt that using a mask twice a week has really helped my skin to feel more hydrated.
